Game development is the process of creating games of different genres (action, role-playing, sports, strategy, casino games, etc.) For different platforms - web, PC, mobile (Android, iOS), cloud, console (Xbox, Nintendo). , PS4). Today you can develop cross-platform games. These can be AAA or indie games. Regardless of what type of game you need to develop, you need to program, develop, release and test them until you have a complete game.

Generally speaking, game development is a field that encompasses all aspects related to making video games, from conceptualization to graphic design, programming and releases. All of this work falls on the shoulders of game developers. There is a special document that they adhere to during the game development process. This is a game design document (in the game industry it's shortened to GDD), which includes all aspects related to the actual gameplay process. It is used to organize a productive workflow within the development team.
Game development is a fairly well-oiled process that has certain steps that all games go through in their creation:

  1. Preparing for production. Preparing for production is the first stage of work on the product. At this stage, the main task is to create a game concept, develop a character/environment design, and create a game prototype. It is equally important to prepare a work assignment and coordinate it with the game developers.
  2. Production. This is the stage when most professionals are involved - game designers, artists, developers, testers. Programmers write the source code, designers work on the gameplay and layout, artists draw graphics (3D models and other game props). Sound designers develop sound effects for the game. Level designers create levels, and screenwriters write dialogue for scripted scenes and non-playable characters. All the while, the game designer complements and modifies the game art to reflect the current vision of the game. Some features or levels can be removed or added. The artistic interpretation may evolve and the story (background) may change. There may be a new target site as well as a new target audience. All of these changes should be documented, and most of them should appear in the design documentation.
  3. Testing. Among the most important tasks at this stage are finding and fixing game design errors, game logic problems, and fixing critical bugs. At this stage the game already has all the key features, the content is enough for a full-fledged game for a long time, the collection and analysis of statistics is configured. The testing process is on the test plan, when stress tests are conducted with the involvement of real players.
  4. Release. After the game is created, tested and debugged, its release follows. As a rule, interest in this event is strongly encouraged by the game's publisher. The development team at this stage is engaged in fixing technical bugs discovered in the process and optimizing the product. Game designers are engaged in fine-tuning the gameplay to the actual situation in the game world. It also includes the implementation of various in-game features that support new monetization schemes. In addition, new content is being developed and integrated into the product to keep players interested.
  5. Support and maintenance. The last and unavoidable stage is maintenance. Games, even after testing and debugging, often come out with bugs. Developers leave the opportunity to fix bugs in released games by installing patches.

In addition to reducing the time it takes to hire game developers, you can get other benefits of offshore game development - reduced operating costs and business risks, increased productivity and efficiency, and increased focus on other key business processes. Based on global trends, more and more companies are choosing offshore game developers to scale their business and accelerate growth through exceptional talent available not only in their regions. For example, game development in Ukraine is gaining momentum due to flexible legislation and tax regulation. At the same time, the quality of services remains at a high level.

Reliable partnership with third parties saves you a lot of time. You don't have to go through the whole hiring process. This means you don't have to search for candidates on job sites and search engines, selecting the best fit based on specific requirements. What's more, you don't need to spend your time and energy on training and upbringing employees - an outsourced game development company will work for you instead.
